    Yelland & Papps-2nd Take Roussanne 2014

    AU$40.00

Ohhh yeah it’s funky. If it was a band it would be P-Funk or Funkadelic, it is the George Clinton of wines….. It's got some junk in the trunk. Glorious Roussanne…. Originally from the Rhone Valley in France and equally at home in the Barossa is one of our favourite white varieties and Y&P have jazzed this little 2014 Yelland & Papps Second Take Roussanne up a little. Consider it new world wine made in an old world way. It’s cloudy and leesy and just drop-dead drinkable and we are sure you will agree. Cloudy mid-yellow/gold in colour with perfume that leaps out of the glass. Fruit aromas of lemon, apricot, pear and apple come into play underscored by hints of cinnamon, curry powder, frangipani and jasmine blossom, clotted cream, almond paste, dried honey, crushed quartz, dried tangerine rind and grilled nuts. It’s a heady brew! Learn More

  6. Yelland & Papps-Devote Roussanne 2012

    Yelland & Papps-Devote Roussanne 2014

    AU$35.00

Ahhhhh Roussanne ….All delightful perfume and honey-suckled richness — a traditional variety of the Rhone Valley in France. In the mouth it sits in the medium-bodied camp, perhaps not as broad around the shoulders as Chardonnay but there is certainly more heft of fruit weight. The fruit flavours on the palate match up nicely with what we saw on the bouquet — lemons, pear, apricot, nectarine and a splash of green apple. Hints of cinnamon spice, garam marsala, kaffir lime leaves, marzipan, jasmine, creme fraiche and vanillin flow across the palate beautifully, reined in by a seam of stony acidity and a slight pithy twist on the lingering finish. As you’d expect, it is a wine that is extremely versatile at the dining table matching all manner of dishes from lighter seafood and pasta dishes through to more robust white meat dishes — perhaps milk-fed veal…. ohhhhhh yes.
