Ok guys. I am doing some video editing for one of our Wine TV episodes and drinking this fantastic Cabernet to help give me inspiration. As soon as I tasted the first sip I thought, "I should defiantly write about this wine, but I'll wait till later". Well with only 1 glass to go after my wife and I popped it a few hours ago, I can't procrastinate any longer.
This wine I have had lying around for about a year now, It actually got lost and forgotten about until I was sorting out my little cellar earlier this week. I love finding surprises. Now I did decant this wine while cooking dinner so it was quite nicely aired by the time I was ready to drink it.
First thing I noticed about the wine was the great colour, dark, deep red almost in some light. Looks like a great full big red wine and that is exactly what I was hoping for.
Big tobacco and mint with blackcurrent and dark cherry fruits lifting off the glass. Good woody oak spice but not too much. If you don't know what Cabernet Sauvignon smells like then get some of this because this is a perfect example of Cabernet, especially the Margaret River region.
Very generous with fruit being blackberry and slight hint of blueberry.There are some grippy tannins but this is really nice. All goes together really well. There is a savoury herbal taste almost of nettle and chives.... weird I know but thats the great thing about wine, everybody gets different things from it! Quite elegant and soft in style but a nice wine to impress that special someone! A little expensive but I have seen some pretty good deal around so look out for it.
