  1. Yelland & Papps-Divine Grenache 2012

    Yelland & Papps-Divine Grenache 2012

    AU$75.00

2012 was a vintage that treated Grenache well in the Barossa Valley. Medium cherry red in the glass with inviting aromas of red and dark cherry and plum fruits along with higher-toned fruit characters of cranberry and mulberry. There is a spicy edge to the fruit on the nose with hints of five spice, star anise, hoi sin and soy sauce, gingerbread, roast duck, red licorice, summer berry compote and light vanillin oak nuances. Medium-body in the mouth with a lively flow of fruit. Red cherry, red and dark plums and a splash of bright, juicy cranberry become immediately apparent as the wine flows across the tongue. There are a bevy of spice characters on the mid-palate — cinnamon, five spice, star anise, garam marsala and a hint of pepper. Hints of ginger-cake, red licorice, jasmine, summer berries, tea and gentle oak join before the wine trails off into the distance leaving a plume of exotic spice and red-fruits in its wake. Very fine, sandy tannins and lacy acidity provide the backdrop for the fruit. The 2012 to improve with careful cellaring over the mid-term…. That's if you can keep your hands off it now. Learn More

    Yelland & Papps-2nd Take Grenache 2014

    AU$40.00

YOU HAVE NEVER HAD A GRENACHE LIKE THIS! Bruised purple/red in hue and shows a compelling aromatic profile of yellow plum and red cherry fruits lifted by hints of fragrant mulberry and raspberry compote. Hints of dense ginger-cake, five spice, “Old Jamaican” chocolate, liquorice and dried citrus rind. The fruit flows energetically onto the palate sitting comfortably at the medium-bodied end of the scale. Again, pure fruit focus is the leitmotif - damsel plums, fruits-of-the-forest, raspberry and mulberry with a splash of cranberry for good measure. The mid-palate is laden with spice with hints of gingerbread, dark chocolate, purple flowers, crushed rock, red liquorice, dried herbs and mandarin zest. There is a sense of spaciousness on the palate and a crunchy, juicy vibe on the back palate and as seam of fine acidity propels the wine along to its end-point. There is a lovely sheen of fine-grained, ripe, chalky tannin providing structure and the finish fades slowly showing hints of plum, spice and ginger. Learn More
