Quick Overview

Sophia, named after Winemaker Andrew's great, great, grandmother Sophia, this beautifully feminine wine is smooth, sleek and sophisticated. The Shiraz, although big, is still elegant and retains many of the typical Barossa characteristics. This is a beautifully balanced wine and one of our personal favourites.

This wine is worth every cent and then some. Treat yourself and enjoy a bottle of "Sophia". Great value in mixed case.

"I think this one will go down as a classic. Amazingly deep and soft Shiraz with Sophia’s trademark perfume appears in this wine in abundance. Taste it, I promise you will love it." Andrew Seppelt

Awarded 94 points by James Halliday and a Gold in the Decanter awards, this is a wine that is a treat for any wine lover.

For those who want more...

Andrew‟s family history is an integral part of MSV and this wine is a tribute to his great great grandparent, Sophia. Andrew says"For Sophia, naturally I was after a more feminine style of wine, one with a little perfume. Blending Shiraz with varieties like Viognier produces this desired style and one that I believe fits the personality and strong will of my great great grandmother Sophia.” This Shiraz blend is a style that Andrew believes Sophia would have liked, rich and full bodied with gentle fruit character on the palate and an alluring finish.

Fruit is carefully sourced from the MSV Gomersal Estate on the Western ranges of the Barossa Valley, and the Hampel (Barossa family owned) Vineyard located at Kalimna on the Northern end of the Barossa.

22 months in new and old French and American oak Both the MSV Benno and MSV Sophia have received their share of critical acclaim including the Blue Gold award at the Sydney Wine and Food Competition. They are indeed exceptional food friendly wines.
